Law enforcement authorities apprehend suspects, deemed fugitives.

In a series of arrests, the German Federal Police have been active in enforcing border controls and addressing various legal matters.

On Friday, September 5, 2025, two individuals were apprehended. A 34-year-old Afghan man was arrested at the train station in Viersen for illegal entry, while a 32-year-old Ukrainian man was arrested for violating the Law on Administrative Offenses. The Afghan man had an expired Dutch asylum document and was wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Traunstein. The Ukrainian man, who entered the country as a passenger on a bus from Amsterdam on the A3 highway, was able to avoid a two-day prison sentence by paying a fine of 40 euros.

Separately, the Afghan man's case does not seem to be related to the previous arrests. He was listed in the Schengen Information System for return decisions by Dutch authorities, and was to face a fine of 590 euros or a 59-day prison sentence. After completing police procedures, he was taken to a prison in Willich to begin his sentence.

A week later, on Sunday, September 7, 2025, a 45-year-old Algerian was arrested for wanted charges related to armed robbery by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Leipzig. The Algerian, who was traveling as a passenger on a bus from Brussels to Warsaw, had eight days left of his prison sentence to serve. Despite this, he was taken to a prison in Willich.

It is important to note that these arrests were not related to the temporary border controls reintroduced by the Federal Ministry of the Interior on September 16, 2024. This measure, aimed at combating illegal migration, was enforced by the Federal Police and has been ongoing to ensure compliance with the legal provisions.

The Algerian's case, however, does not involve any fines or charges related to illegal entry or violating the Law on Administrative Offenses. After completing the necessary procedures, he was allowed to continue his journey.

The Federal Police will continue their efforts to maintain order and enforce the law, working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of the German people.
